If you have a really small bathroom you will know how difficult it is to make any bold design choices when it comes to the fixtures and fittings. For example you may have to resort to a shorter bath if you still want to have one and a normal length one won’t fit. Once you have got the sink and possibly the toilet in place as well – assuming you don’t have a separate loo – you may not have space for anything else.
But what about adding a bathroom cabinet? You need to have one of some size in the bathroom to hold those few essential items you need in there. This tends to be the main place where we all keep our medicines and other similar items in a safe cabinet.
The good news is that most medicine cabinets are not that big and you can probably find something suitable to fit into whatever space you have. The trick is to take a fresh look at your bathroom so you can figure out where you can have a cabinet.
This might sound a bit of an odd thing to do to start with – after all you know what your bathroom looks like don’t you? But you need to consider the actual space you have there as well, otherwise you won’t know all the options you have for putting a bathroom cabinet in.
For instance you can get corner cabinets that look very nice, and they can sometimes be easier to fit into a small bathroom than any other type of cabinet. Watch out for the area above the sink as well. If the sink is against a wall you could buy a shallow mirrored cabinet to go directly above it. This will save you the job of buying a separate mirror as well.
Take a tape measure in with you as well, and have a look at some bathroom catalogues if you have them. Measure up all the potential spaces and see which area would be the most beneficial for you to install a bathroom cabinet in.
As you can see, no matter how small your bathroom might be you can usually get a small cabinet in somewhere. And you will be glad you did because it provides you with that extra little bit of storage space that is necessary in the room.
